On June 15, 2020, ReFood will open a new site in Trossingen (Germany) and will rely on a new kind of processing method.

A particular challenge in dealing with food residues is to separate the packaging materials from packaged food. In Germany, there will be a change in the legal framework in the foreseeable future that will require strict separation of packaged and unpackaged food waste in all steps from collection to transport and further processing.

ReFood is now proactively addressing this development with innovative technology and processes. In contrast to previous ReFood plants, two separate processing lines for packaged and unpackaged food have been installed in Trossingen. This sets the course for even more sustainable and responsible handling of food and food waste.
